“When I was very small, I looked up into the night sky and saw a shimmering crescent. In my eyes, it was a sliver of a shape with real presence, character, and even a personality. Of course it was a moon, but it looked like a fingernail to me. I realized sometimes I see things a little differently. “Fingernail Moon” has become my personal avatar for imagination and creative energy.”  ---B.K.

Barbara Kolberg is an illustrator, author, and narrative storyteller, working in a variety of mediums including watercolor, oil, ink, pencils, and digital. She earned a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Illustration from California State University Fullerton. Inspiration comes from classical art and literature, general observations, and most often, unlikely notions from an overactive imagination. Born in Adrian, Michigan, she now lives in Southern California.
